Bethany Preschool is a ministry of Bethany United Methodist Church.   We are a Christian school, however our preschool is nondenominational.  We welcome families of all faiths.

 

Our Mission

With God at our center and parents as our partners, we will nurture the total child – emotionally, physically and spiritually.

Curriculum

  • We celebrate all Christian Holidays
  • Our curriculum is academic based with a Christian overview
  • Play and Creativity are a primary learning tool
  • Stories, Songs, Art Projects, Numbers, Letters, Colors and Shapes are a part of each day
  • Fine and Gross motor skills, Visual awareness, Memory and Sequencing  are incorporated
  • Ministry time in the Sanctuary two times each month
  • Music class up to four times each month
  • Monthly group "Story Time" provided by parent volunteers 
  • Pre-K classes have computer time
  • Pre-K classes have scheduled Spanish classes
  • Pre-K curriculum meets/exceeds Loudoun County Public School recomendations for Kindergarten preparation

 

  Daily Schedule

8:45-9:00  Drop off: All parents/guardians are required to sign-in their child daily

9:00-9:15 Free Play

9:15-9:30  First Circle Time:  Prayer, roll call, Pledge to the Flag, calendar, weather chart,  the letter or number of the week, class helpers etc.

9:30-9:40  Discuss and Demonstrate:  Art Projects and lessons for the day

9:40-10:30 Centers:  One to four students work with the teacher on the main project while the assistant works with one or two students on a secondary project.  During this time the other students rotate freely in centers set up in the classroom such as the computer (pre-k only), kitchen, coloring table, chalk boards, blocks, books, cars, trains, dolls, puzzles, folder games etc.

10:30-10:35  Clean Up

10:35-10:55  Second Circle Time:  Stories, Poems, Music, Show & Tell

10:55-11:00  Pack-up: Back packs, color sheets, work sheets etc.

11:00-11:25  Snack Time: Ponies & Bunnies/Dolphins & Fishes

11:00-11:25  Outside Play:  Ducks & Bears (Weather permitting)

11:25-11:50 Snack Time : Ducks & Bears

11:25-11:50  Outside Play:  Ponies & Bunnies/Dolphins & Fishes (weather permitting)

11:50-12:00 Prepare for Pick-up: All parents/guardians are required to sign-out their child daily

 * Subject to no more than a 5% increase.

Virginia State requires one teacher for each ten students.  Any class with more than ten students will have a teacher and a full time assistant, however it is our goal to have a teacher and a full time asstistant in every class regardless of student numbers.

 

Other Programs

Extended Day – Is offered each Tuesday and Thursday.  Students bring lunch and stay until 2:30 for fun, friends, games etc. Sign up is first come first serve, 18 student max. per day.

Fee - $20 per day for first child, $10 for each additional child.

Mini Camps – Are offered for three weeks following the end of the school year in May.  These Thematic three day sessions are filled with outdoor activities and lots of fun!

Fee - $75 per session

 

Inclement Weather Procedures

  We follow the Loudoun County School closings as follows:

  • If school is dismissed early because of a storm that begins during school hours, we will determine our own schedule and inform you by phone
  • If the county opens one hour late we will open at 10:00am and extend our day until 1:00pm
  • If the county opens two hours late we will open at 11:00am and extend our day until 1:00pm
  • If the county closes then we are closed

Extended Day

  • If school opens one hour late extended day will be from 1:00pm - 3:00pm
  • If school opens two hours late extended day will be from 1:00pm - 3:00pm
  • If school is closed there will be no extended day.  When we have inclement weather that closes the preschool on an extended day, the extended day will be moved to the following school day.  Only the extended day affected by the closure will be moved.  If the inclement weather continues for more than one day then the extended day will be canceled and credit will be given.

We reserve the option of canceling school any time we feel conditions are not safe and will notify you accordingly

 

Staff

  • Teachers are required to have a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood / Elementary Education or equivalent  experience teaching preschool children
  • Assistants must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Staff are CPR certified,  American Heart Association
  • Staff are trained in First Aid, Heartsaver’s Plus
  • Have Criminal History and Sex Offender background checks by Virginia State Police
  • Have yearly medical clearance by their physician

Bethany Preschool is a religious institution exempt from licensure
